Most improved position groups across the 2024 NFL offseason:

After spending the last month reflecting on what the player acquisition process looked like for all 32 teams, with a focus on the names brought in via the draft, it’s now time to take a step back and identify the positional units that improved the most throughout this process, comparing the additions and departures at those spots.

This is purely based on the players that were brought in/let go from the point the 2023 NFL season ended onwards, not taking injuries into account. So you’re not going to find the Jets here for getting back Aaron Rodgers from the torn Achilles he suffered four snaps into his time with New York for example. Along with that, I like to take a broader look at this in terms of which position groups were stocked up best rather than just talking about a singular star performer they acquired.

Let’s dive in:

AFC North Draft & Roster Review 2024

After kicking off our divisional draft and roster review series with the NFC North earlier in the week, we’re switching conferences and look at the Ravens, Bengals, Browns and Steelers!

I’ll quickly break down each of their new players and relate them to what the rest of the roster and their role within it could look like!

NFL Power Rankings

NFL Power Rankings heading into the final month of the 2023 season:

It’s that point of the year again – we enter the figurative fourth quarter of the NFL season. Teams are starting to separate themselves at the top-end and bottom of the league, but there’s still very little clarity in the middle of the pack. So now I’ll try to distinguish between those squads with similar records, as we head down the home stretch, and rank them one through 32.

As always, these are power RANKINGS rather than standings. So I’m well aware that these aren’t fully compliant with how records stack up and that some teams may have beat others, who are listed ahead of them. I base this on what my eyes tell my first of course, but will bring up different metrics, in order to make my points, as well as add context to certain numbers.

Let’s get into it:

How the Ravens obliterated the Lions (Week 7 – 2023)

The early Sunday slate of week seven was highlighted by a highly-anticipated inter-conference matchup between the Lions and Ravens. However, Baltimore took control right now and turned this into a 38-6 beatdown.

I’m breaking down what exactly they did on both sides of the ball!

The seven sins of NFL week seven:

With Halloween coming up and the seventh week of games in the books, the theme of “the seven (deadly) sins” came to mind for me and I decided to take a closer look at the most recent slate of games through that lense. That way I would seven terms to describe how certain teams hurt themselves by committing those errors.

Analyzing the six biggest matchups from NFL week six:

Having already done a couple of big topics in video format, with the Bengals early-season struggles on offense and the Giants now 5-1 start, powered by Saquon Barkley, along with power rankings at the quarter-pole of the season, I thought this was the right time to kind of let readers into my world of tape study and really dive into the six biggest games from this past weekend. All teams involved in these matchups are now .500 or better, including some risers and what were labelled as championship contenders heading into the season, now at somewhat of a crossroads a month-and-a-half into the year.

Below, you can find my offense versus defense breakdowns when either team possessed the ball, along with some concluding general thoughts, from the following matchups: 49ers-Falcons, Vikings-Dolphins, Jets-Packers, Ravens-Giants, Bills-Chiefs and Cowboys-Eagles.

(Records listed are as of post-week six)

What makes him so good

What makes Marshal Yanda the best offensive guard in the NFL today:

A couple of years ago, I started analyzing the game’s top players at their respective positions and explaining what makes them that good. With the major parts of the offseason in the books I decided to go back to that format and look at another premiere player. This article is about the Ravens’ offensive guard Marshal Yanda and why I think he is the number one option at his spot and one of the best overall players in the league. Let’s get to it.

(Usually I add clips to emphasize my points for the respective players, but that’s not as easy with offensive linemen. Therefore, I recommend to just put a Ravens game on and watch number 73 go to work.)
