Top 10 tight-ends in the 2022 NFL Draft:

Entering our final week of multiple positions being broken down for the draft, we start with the tight-end spot before transitioning to safety. I did not include fullbacks into this group (like some other pages do), because I simply didn’t have the time to make an adequate list and watch film on guys who played that spot in college, but we have some different body-types, who can fill that type of role, along with true Y’s or move options.

We certainly don’t have a generational prospect like Kyle Pitts in this year’s class or even a Pat Freiermuth, who I personally looked at as worthy of a first-round pick, but there’s several quality contributors that you can pick up – even on day three. That includes plenty of more traditional in-line players, although we have a couple of guys in the top three, who are capable of stressing defenses down the seams.

Top 10 tight-ends in the 2021 NFL Draft:

We are pretty much exactly two weeks away from this year’s NFL Draft kicking off and the end of my positional breakdowns is in sight, with tight-ends and safety this week, before we finish up with the quarterbacks and then I present my overall big board.

I think it’s kind of funny that in a year, where we have one of the most special talents at the tight-end position in a long time, the class as a whole is as weak as we have seen for a pretty much equal stretch. Obviously, there is number one and then everybody else in this class, but I think there is clear-cut second choice and then there’s three more names that I think deserve day two consideration. After that, it’s very slim pickings, and almost everybody else comes in with serious question marks.

Top 10 tight-ends in the 2020 NFL Draft:

We have reached the final three position groups of my draft breakdowns! This is the last offensive class before we finish up with the quarterbacks next week.

This class of tight-ends lacks a true alpha or that top tier of guys, which we have had in recent years. However, there are a bunch of prospects I have day two grades on and some interesting players that haven’t been exposed to a lot of casual fans on the national stage. Those prospects either played for smaller schools or didn’t get the opportunity to show off their skill-set due to the offense they were in. Either way, there is definitely some untapped potential. Nevertheless, the one thing that stands out is how slow this group was at the combine, outside of one guy in my top five.

Top 10 tight-ends in the 2019 NFL Draft:

We are finishing up the offensive skill positions with the tight-ends this week, before putting out the final edition of my positional rankings in the middle of next week – the quarterbacks. Tight-ends have become much more prominent these last few years, basically ever since Rob Gronkowski and Jimmy Graham burst onto the scene. While Gronk was a tremendous blocker and was at his best putting hands on people in the run-game during the Patriots’ latest Super Bowl run, Graham represents more of the modern version of the position. A lot of teams are looking for that big-bodied slot receiver and with all the spread offenses in college, that’s what the draft provides us with. While I think the top guy on my list is more a throwback tight-end who can do it all, the rest of my top five is filled with prospects, who intrigue scouts mainly of their receiving abilities.

So how good is this class? Well, I think we have one of the top ten overall players available among this group, because he is a blue-chip guy who can fit any scheme and run any play for you. The next four prospects are mainly pass-catchers, who might show some upside as blockers. My number two guy should be a lock for the top 20, number three should sneak in somewhere in the late first round and the fourth guy could easily end up being a top 50 pick. I completely disagree with pretty much everybody when it comes to my fifth player and I think number six has lot of potential, but I don’t see anybody else is worth a selection ahead of day three.
