NFL Offseason, Storylines around the NFL

Most intriguing 2022 NFL training camp battles:

With the majority of NFL training camps starting in about a week and depth charts starting to be formed, I wanted to highlight some of the more intriguing battles for (mostly) starting positions and certain roles around the league. I tried to address every position at least once and cover a bunch of teams, discussing their options at those positions.

Key position battles at 2021 NFL training camps:

With training camps for all 32 NFL teams under way now, I thought it was time to go through every single roster once again and identify what I believe are some of the more key position battles, which I would classify as an actual competition, which could take all of preseason to play out potentially.

I tried to include one example for each position, without repeating teams, and at the end I will mention a few other competitions that I will have my eyes on.

Key position battles at 2020 NFL training camp:

We have finally reached NFL training camp and with the agreement between the league and the players association, there is a little more clarity about how the preparation for the 2020 season will look. With such a long time off, the early stages of this will involve a lot of lifting and running, before the players actually go out on the field and compete, but like I have done for several years, I want to look at some of the more interesting battles for starting positions.

Now that preseason has been cancelled, it will only enhance the importance of these competitions and even though I usually have a little bias towards rookies, since I studied them a lot since the Super Bowl ended, this whole situation should actually favor the more seasoned veterans. Position battles at 2019 NFL training camp for every single team:

With training camp in full swing for all 32 teams and just a week away from the Hall of Fame game between the Falcons and Broncos, I wanted to take a look at the biggest position battles going on for every team throughout practice and a lot of times most of the preseason. Some of these may be very close two-man races for a specific spot, others include several candidates looking to crack the starting lineup. Some of them may be sexier when it comes to quarterbacks, while others are about offensive guards putting in the work up front. However you want to turn it, these are what I think the toughest battles going on right now and only competition will determine the winners.

Position battles to watch out for heading into NFL training camps:

In the NFL there is constant competition at pretty much every position. Front offices try to find replacements for aging players or those, who will soon demand contracts they can’t afford. That creates an environment, where every man is working as hard as they can to earn a starting spot. Only competition gets the best out of football players and it is vital for a team’s success. I picked out the eight positional battles that will be most interesting to watch through training camps and beyond. So here they are:

Most interesting position battles in NFL training camps:

With training camp on the way for all 32 NFL teams, the competition for roster spots and moving up on the depth chart has started. I want to take the time to look at the most compelling battles for starting jobs around the league. You won’t find Patriots running backs on this list, because they have like 20 of them on their roster and they will all play a role at different stages of the season. This is more about true starters, who are counted on to produce at a certain level throughout the year. And no, I won’t talk about kickers either for all the Bucs fans out there.
