NFL Power Rankings

NFL Power Rankings heading into week 5:

Heading into week 5 and with a quarter of the season already in the books (!) there have been a couple of surprises. I predicted the Ravens to win the AFC, but they are 1-3 right now, the Falcons are two more wins away from their 2014 total and the Eagles right now are at the bottom of the NFC East standings. To find a way to figure out all this craziness, I decided to rank all 32 teams. But instead of ranking them only based on the record, I wanted to give my opinion on who I think has played the best and how they will play from here on out.

Biggest remaining needs for all 32 NFL teams:

With the first days of training camp in full swing every NFL organization has to look at their roster and point out the biggest positional needs for their team to have as much success as possible. And that’s what I did for each team in the league. This list is not about building depth or planning for the future, but rather which positions have to be upgraded for them to win this year. Without any further ado, here it is:

NFL Top 100 Players of 2015: Most underrated, overrated players and who got snubbed:

First of all, I love the Top 100 Players show. I love most of the clips, the comments – pretty much everything. But that doesn’t mean I agree with the rankings. Not at all. I already mentioned once that I don’t think the voting players get to see everybody in the league play. This is no form of critique, but rather me understanding what preparing for opponents and getting ready for game day feels like. You don’t have the time to watch teams you don’t even play against the entire year. So much like last year, I thought it was time to get a few things right. What you can read right here are lists of who I thought should have been ranked a lot higher and lower plus who I thought would have deserved a spot himself.

NFL Top 100 players of 2015:

With the NFL Network already having presented numbers 100 to 81 and Terrell Suggs making an early appearance at the 84th spot, I decided to make my own list to stop the madness. If T-Sizzle is ranked this low I already fear what is lying ahead of us. The rankings come from their fellow players, which is somewhat understandable, but if you consider how much work they need to do during the season, I’m not sure how they can really evaluate all the players in the league. Sure, they know the game and have to study their opponents prior to the respective matchups, but I don’t know how much time they have to just watch different games and tell who the top 100 are.

To explain what this list is about – A number of players around the league get to list their top players in the NFL heading into this upcoming season and the result is the list, who is revealed in ten or eleven blocks of ten (depending on if they split the top ten this year again). So this is not about last year and it’s kind of about projecting as well, but since the voting process happened before some players were suspended for a couple of games, I didn’t take that fact into consideration either.

Full the already revealed players and the other 80 still coming up check in right here.

Here’s my list:

Draft recap: Biggest winners, losers, surprises and steals

So with a crazy Draft weekend in the books and a chance for me to evaluate every team’s draft class, I decided to determine who really helped themselves and who was hurt by some moves made. In addition to that I’ll name the biggest surprises that came up and which players were the greatest value-picks. Let’s dive right into it:

Three Draft prospects who would make sense for each team:

With the Draft just three days from now I want to take a look at three possible players each time could target with their first pick. There’s no guarantee those guys will be available, but if they are I see a good chance for each team to take either one of them. Certainly Draft day trades and surprise picks can change the complexity of the entire process, but still there are a few prospects out there I assume are high on the respective team’s big boards.

Top 100 prospects in the NFL Draft:

With just over two weeks until the Draft I decided to put together a part of my draft board. Like every team’s scouting department I listed my top prospects regardless of position. Usually the next step would be to look at my team’s needs and who could fill them. But when you think of the best teams in the league they are smart enough to only look at the holes on their roster secondly and take the best player available. To me the best general manager to do so is the Baltimore Ravens’ Ozzie Newsome. I didn’t go through all the players available, but with a hundred of them listed I at least have myself covered for the first three rounds.
