With the NFL Network already having presented numbers 100 to 81 and Terrell Suggs making an early appearance at the 84th spot, I decided to make my own list to stop the madness. If T-Sizzle is ranked this low I already fear what is lying ahead of us. The rankings come from their fellow players, which is somewhat understandable, but if you consider how much work they need to do during the season, I’m not sure how they can really evaluate all the players in the league. Sure, they know the game and have to study their opponents prior to the respective matchups, but I don’t know how much time they have to just watch different games and tell who the top 100 are.
To explain what this list is about – A number of players around the league get to list their top players in the NFL heading into this upcoming season and the result is the list, who is revealed in ten or eleven blocks of ten (depending on if they split the top ten this year again). So this is not about last year and it’s kind of about projecting as well, but since the voting process happened before some players were suspended for a couple of games, I didn’t take that fact into consideration either.
Full the already revealed players and the other 80 still coming up check in right here.
Here’s my list:
- Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers: Rodgers clearly is the best signal caller in the game today and as we all know the NFL is a quarterback-league, so this choice wasn’t that hard for me.
- J.J. Watt, DE, Texans: The only one who would have earned the top spot on the list other than A-Rod is Watt, whose dominance at his position is crazy. There’s nobody who’s anywhere as disruptive as him.
- Andrew Luck, QB, Colts: The only one I see being able to grab the title for best quarterback from Rodgers is Luck, because his team always has a chance no matter what the scoreboard says as long as he takes the snaps (maybe with the exception of the AFC Championship game).
- Le’Veon Bell, RB, Steelers: Bell is an offensive weapon, who can do it all. He has the ability to lead the league in yards from scrimmage every single season from now as he can take the load for his team.
- Calvin Johnson, WR, Lions: Megatron missed three games and was hurt large parts of the season, but still managed to crack the 1000 yard receiving mark. He is never completely covered and defensive backs fear him.
- Tom Brady, QB, Patriots: The man who just won his fourth Super Bowl checks in at number six. At the start of last season some people doubted if he still was the guy, but over the rest of season he pretty much proved everybody that he still is.
- Marshawn Lynch, RB, Seahawks: It doesn’t matter one bit if he talks or not – he is carrying this team and if he would have gotten the ball when they were at the one yard line, he probably would have ranked in the top three on most people’s lists. He’s just ’bout that action!
- Julio Jones, WR, Falcons: Talk about putting fear into defensive backs’ hearts. Jones has the size and highpoint-the-catch ability of Megatron, but also the speed to take the top off of any defense.
- Darrelle Revis, CB, Jets: Right behind him is one of the few guys who’s not afraid to match up either with Johnson or Jones. Revis the prototype man-to-man corner, who can shut down pretty much anybody trying to catch the ball.
- Luke Kuechly, MLB, Panthers: As a defensive coordinator what you want in the middle of your defense if Kuechly. He makes sure everbody knows what they have to do, is a tackling machine and makes big plays.

I don’t want anybody telling me I’m disrespecting offensive linemen, in fact I think the play up front is the most important of any team’s success, but what I’ve come to understand from personal experiences – they have to do it as a unit. This is the reason I don’t have more O-linemen on my list. And no, there certainly is no kicker in my top 100.
Nobody will be completely happy with it, including me since I wanted to rank some guys who just didn’t have a great 2014 season a little higher, so let me hear it!
Peyton Manning at 26!!!!!!!!! He should be top 5, if not top 3!

Sorry, I meant 23. Still, that is ridiculous!!!!!

I have the greatest respect for Peyton, but right now I’m just not sure where he is healthwise. If I was sure he was perfectly healthy he certainly would be in the top 10!
